March 3, 2022 Snow Removal Posted March 2, 2022 Crews will be working on snow removal for 99 Street (71 Ave. to the Cemetery) and 98 Street (from the Glenmary High School track to Good Shepherd School) on Thursday, March 3, 2022. Equipment will be heading out at 8:00am. As residents were not given 24 hours notice, cars left on the street will not be at risk of tickets or towing, as per our Snow & Ice Management Policy. Sand Available for Residents Posted February 17, 2022 Crews are continuing to try to clear as much ice as possible in order of which roads need it most; however, some sidewalks throughout neighbourhoods remain extremely icy. As our crews cannot clear the private sidewalks, pallets of sandbags have been placed at both the Centennial Parking Lot and Public Works in an effort to combat this issue. These sandbags are free and available for all residents, with the expectation that they be used solely for placement on icy walkways and sidewalks throughout neighbourhoods. Fire Department Flag Lowered February 7, 2021 Flags at Peace River Fire Halls are at half mast in honour of an Alberta Volunteer Firefighter who died on Friday night in the line of duty. Firefighter Stephen Rayfield of the Castor Fire Department died while responding to a motor vehicle collision. The Fire Truck that he was in lost control in the extremely icy conditions and rolled. The Fire Chief was also injured in that incident. The Peace River Fire Department’s thoughts and prayers are with Stephen’s family, fellow firefighters on the Castor Fire Department and the community of Castor.Read More →
February 7th Snow Removal Our crews will be out tomorrow, Monday, February 7, 2022, working on snow removal from Priority 1 routes. This will include sections of 103 St. After Priority 1 is cleared, crews will then move onto Priority 2 routes, such as 91 St. in Lower West Peace and 82 St. in Saddleback. Posted February 3, 2022 Starting this evening, Northern Alberta is under a Snowfall Warning, with expected total snow accumulations ranging from 20 to 40 cm by Saturday evening. As per our Snow & Ice Management Policy, during a major snowfall event parking bans will be in force on Priority 1 (P1) routes. This ban will be in effect 12 hours after the snowfall event has ended from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily and remain in force until the next following Monday at which point the parking bans noted in 6.4.2 of the same policy will be in effect. Crews will be removing snow from the following areas on Monday, January 24th The Pines Shaftesbury (92st) Lower West Peace (91st) North End (71 – 74 Ave, 99A St and Baldwin Court) Saddleback (graders will be moving to finish the neighbourhood) It is anticipated that on Tuesday January 25th, all priority 1 and 1 routes will see equipment completing maintenance, and on Wednesday January 26th, equipment will begin removal in the Lower West Peace subdivision, then progressing into Shaftsbury Estates.
